Learning at NMA

A routine-based, CAPS-aligned programme that balances strong academics with creativity, curiosity and confidence.

OUR APPROACH

Structured, but never rigid.

We follow a routine-based, CAPS-compliant syllabus in line with the National Curriculum Statement, while encouraging creativity, curiosity, confidence and critical thinking. Our leadership team and educators work together so that every child feels valued and supported academically, emotionally and socially.

PRE-SCHOOL · NORTHCLIFF & LINDEN

Toddler to Grade R: learning through play.

Toddler / Nursery

Our youngest learners learn through exploration and joyful play: drawing and painting, cutting and threading, puzzles and block building, fantasy play, and early literacy and numeracy. Educators work closely with small groups to build confidence, friendships and independence.

Grade RR

Learners grow in confidence and independence while developing language, literacy, numeracy and school-readiness skills.

Grade R

A structured, child-friendly year that prepares learners for a smooth, confident move into formal schooling: foundational literacy, early numeracy, independence, responsibility and classroom readiness.

Grade R is compulsory before your child can progress to Grade 1.

What we focus on

PRIMARY SCHOOL · GRADE 1 TO 7

Strong foundations, confident learners.

A balanced, nurturing academic programme where every child feels supported, inspired and motivated to reach their full potential.

  • Strong academic foundations
  • Independent learning and critical thinking
  • Confidence and leadership development
  • Discipline, responsibility and respect
  • Holistic growth and wellbeing

LANGUAGE & ISLAMIC STUDIES

English medium, with Islamic Studies.

The language of instruction is English. Break-away Islamic Studies classes follow a Jamiat-approved syllabus that nurtures a love of Islam alongside academic development. During this time, non-Muslim learners take part in supervised academic support or enrichment activities.

“Every child learns differently. Every child matters.”

ASSESSMENTS & REPORTS

How we track progress.

PRE-PRIMARY

Assessment is woven gently into daily activities, so children feel relaxed and confident. Reports come twice a year.

Grade R learners are encouraged to complete a school readiness assessment with a qualified therapist. Many primary schools require it, and costs are communicated in advance.

Parents receive a monthly roster with weekly themes, dates and school-readiness tips.

PRIMARY

A balance of formal tasks, informal activities and daily participation helps educators celebrate progress, spot strengths and support areas needing development.

Reports come at the end of every term (Grade R and above).

Parents receive a term outline of the scope of work and learning goals.

REMEDIAL SUPPORT

Extra help when a child needs it.

Support may include language development, concentration and focus, fine and gross motor skills, processing skills and perceptual development.

  1. Observe: educators observe and support each learner, working closely with the Principal.
  2. Involve parents: you’re kept informed and involved at every step.
  3. Plan together: where needed, a collaborative support plan with specialists, and referral to a qualified therapist if it would help.
